The KNPI youth organization in Kutai regency, East Kalimantan province, accused on Tuesday gold mining firm PT Kelian Equatorial Mining (KEM) of failing to realize its promises.
Head of the Kutai KNPI organization Mursito said that KEM's senior executive Alan Robert promised last year during a hearing session with the local House of Representatives that the company would donate a vehicle for the youth organization and assistance to the local Kutai Kartanegara Tenggarong University.
"But until now the promises have not been realized ? We feel very disappointed," Mursito said.
KEM has been operating in the Long Iram subdistrict in Kutai regency for 12 years with annual gold production of around 14 tons.(*)
