China Xiamen International Economic and Technical Cooperation Co., Ltd. (Xiamen International) has signed an international cooperation agreement with Indonesia’s Wanxiang Nickel Industry Co., Ltd. (Wanxiang Nickel), launching a new phase of deep collaboration in the global new energy industry chain.
According to the company Weixin official account, the signing marks not only a solid step in the company’s internationalization strategy, but also a key effort to implement the “Going Global” directive from its parent company, ITG Holding Group. It also adds new momentum to production capacity cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Since initiating project discussions in September 2024, the two parties have conducted multiple rounds of feasibility evaluations and business model innovation, ultimately reaching a comprehensive consensus. Under the agreement, Xiamen International will provide Wanxiang Nickel with a full suite of international services, including technical exports and operational management support, leveraging its overseas project management experience and cross-border qualifications.

The project, once launched, is expected to create nearly 400 overseas jobs and reflects the state-owned enterprise ethos of mutual benefit and shared responsibility.
Xiamen International stated it will use this cooperation as an opportunity to accelerate high-quality growth through internationalization, integrate global resources, and expand its service capabilities for Chinese companies “going abroad.” The company also aims to build a global industrial collaboration network covering both technology and management, through compliant systems and shared experience in cross-border cooperation.
Wanxiang Nickel is a large integrated enterprise registered in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. It operates under the Wanxiang New Energy Industrial Park and is engaged in nickel mining, industrial manufacturing, cross-border trade, logistics, and energy supply. In July 2024, the company announced plans to produce 70,000 tons of high-grade nickel matte annually at the park, located in Bahomotefe Village, East Bungku, Morowali Regency. The second-phase smelter project follows the completion of four ferronickel RKEF lines, coal power facilities, and terminal infrastructure during its first-phase development.
