Workers at PT Exspan, one of production sharing contractors of the state owned oil and gas company Pertamina, have established a labor union in a bid to create a stronger synergy with the management.
The company said that the workers and the management of PT Exspan, part of the Medco Group, have also agreed to use mutual agreement as the base of the relationship between the company and the workers.
John S. Karamoy, the president of the Medco Group, said in Jakarta on Wednesday that Exspan had become one of few oil companies that had used a mutual agreement as the base of the working relationship between the management and the workers.
According to him, unlike the corporate regulation, the working relationships based on mutual agreement benefit both the company and workers. "The working relationship based on corporate regulations gives more benefit to the company but it often becomes a burden," he was quoted as saying by Neraca.
He hoped that the two-way management system would create a strong synergy between the workers and the management in supporting the company's day to day activities. (*)
