The legislative council of West Java province has approved the local government?s regulation which will allow private national and foreign companies and cooperatives to involve in the development of a electricity plant, electricity transmission and distribution facilities, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.
"The regulation will basically authorize the provincial administration of West Java to manage and supply electricity in the province," the chairman of the council?s special committee on the local government?s regulation, Harjoko Sanganagara., said.
With such an authority, the governor has the right to issue permits related to the operation of a power plant, and its supporting facilities. Companies which are involved in such activities are allowed to sell their electricity and services.
The issuance of the electricity regulation which also involved state owned electricity company PLN is also supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Harjoko said. (*)
