After securing a contract to build a 6x17-megawatt diesel-generated power plant from state-owned diversified miner PT Antam Tbk, engineering services company W?rtsil? Oy of Finland also clinched a deal for maintenance and operation (O&M) for that power plant.

Under the agreement signed in early June, it would be responsible for the operation, predictive maintenance and spare parts for the power plant for an 11-year period, W?rtsil? said in a statement on Monday.

W?rtsil? however did not disclose the value of the contract, but said it was the second largest O&M agreement ever concluded by them, in terms of megawatts.

In last November, Antam awarded an engineering procurement and construction contract worth US$64.5 million to W?rtsil? to build the power plant for its FeNi project in Pomalaa, South Sulawesi.

Antam earlier said construction on the power plant (PLTD-3), the third power plant in the area, is expected to last 18 months. (robert)
