PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMI) has launched the first hydrogen refueling station in West Java Province, located in Karawang Regency.
“This initiative marks an important step for Toyota in introducing more sustainable energy solutions. Toyota aims to ensure that every technology contributes to reducing carbon emissions,” Nandi Julyanto, President Director of TMMI, said at the launch ceremony on Tuesday (Feb 7).
The hydrogen refueling station has a capacity of 700 bar, with an investment value of Rp 35 billion.

Meanwhile, for industrial needs, TMMI plans to introduce hydrogen-powered forklifts in the near future.
At the same event, Eniya Listiani Dewi, Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, stated that the Indonesian government is preparing a hydrogen roadmap, including its use in the transportation sector.
"We are currently developing a hydrogen roadmap, and it is expected that by around 2038–2040, hydrogen will become one of the main energy sources, both for vehicles and power generation," Eniya said.
