SMJ reaches deal with ex-employees

Wednesday, March 15 2000 - 04:00 AM WIB

PT Sumber Mitra Jaya (SMJ) finally reached agreement late on Tuesday with its former employees to repay a higher separation pay.

The decision was reached following days of demonstration made by some 400 of the company's former employees at the headquarter of the state coal mining firm PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam.

SMJ was reportedly laid off some its workers after its job at Bukit Asam ended. (*)
