SI entrusted to control sand exports

PT Surveyor Indonesia has been entrusted to supervise and control sand exports from the province and will carry the job as good as possibe, the company's president Toga M Sitompul said in Pekanbaru on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters following the official opening of the company's branch in the provincial capital, Sitompul said that the company, which is jointly owned by the Indonesian government and SGS Intenational, said that the company was seeking other business opportunities in the province.
The company, which controls the sand exports form the province to the neighboring Singapore has been under fire after the local official charged the company of doing nothing in controlling the sand exports.
Many sand mining companies in the province carry out their operations without proper permits.
