Indonesian coal producers noted a dip in enquiries this week compared to the weeks prior, citing the year-end period for the slowdown. Heavy rain and strong winds continue to challenge miners in South and East Kalimantan prompting several major players to say that January output will likely remain tight. A deal was reported done at $43.25/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for a geared vessel loading in January from earlier in the week. An offer was reported at $46.25/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for a late January, early February loading geared vessel. There was talk of an indicative bid for a February loading geared vessel at $43.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, although this could not be confirmed.
Paper
Paper market activity was slow once again in Asian trading. M42 was heard bid for January at $43.00 and offered at $44.50, and offered for March at $40.00. Q1-21 was bid at $41.00 and offered at $42.50. A spread for February vs March was heard bid at plus $1.40.
