Modest growth in Indonesian prices was seen on the week although general buying sentiment remained weak with China and India still subdued. Deals for December were heard settled at $28.50-29.50/t, basis 3,800 kc NAR, and at $29.50-30.50/t FOB, basis 4,200 kc GAR, for geared and Panamax vessels respectively. This was higher than where trades were done for December loading geared vessels last week in a range of $28.00-29.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR. Markets for January were bid at $28.75-29.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, against offers at $30.75-31.00/t FOB, same basis, for geared vessels. On an index-linked basis, a geared vessel was offered for Cal-21 at M42 flat, basis 3,800 kc NAR.
Paper
The futures market in Asia was supported by multiple transactions for M42 in December over the week, which went through at $29.80-30.05/t. This was up on traded levels for the same month a week back at $29.50-29.90/t. January M42 traded at $30.60/t.
