Malaysia's Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak (MUT) and Sarawak Energy have wrapped up a business mission to Jakarta, strengthening regional energy collaboration and exploring new cross-border electricity initiatives with Indonesia’s state-owned power utility, PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara).
During the visit, the Sarawak delegation met with PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo to discuss potential energy projects, building on the Sarawak-West Kalimantan interconnection, which has been in operation since 2016. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing regional energy security and supporting ASEAN’s power grid development through expanded cross-border electricity trade.
As Sarawak Energy continues its ambition to become a regional power supplier, the delegation introduced the Sustainability & Renewable Energy Forum (SAREF) as a platform for continued discussions on energy transition. SAREF 4.0, scheduled for September 2025, will bring together industry leaders and policymakers to advance sustainable energy solutions and cross-border collaboration.
