RI demands King Fisher owner to pay Rp 120 billion in compensation

The government of Indonesia will ask the owner of the MT King Fisher oil tanker to pay some Rp 120 billion (US$=Rp 7,970) in compensation for the environmental destruction in the waters of Cilacap in Central Java.
Soetrisno Djojowasito who represents the government was quoted by Republika daily as saying that the sum was enough to cover for the losses suffered by the government and the local fishermen.
MT King Fisher oil tankers collided with a rock in the waters of Cilacap area recently overthrowing some 4,000 barrel of oil into the sea which caused serious environmental damage. (*)
