Purnomo to inaugurate Wayang Windu II today

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro is scheduled to officially inaugurate the operation of PLTP Wayang Windu II geothermal power plant today.

 

The new geothermal power plant, built by PT Star Energy Geothermal (Wayang Windu) Ltd under a Joint Operating Contract (JOC) with PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), is located in Pengalengan, West Java, the ministry?s website reported.

 

The power plant will provide additional power supply of 117 megawatt to the Java-Bali power grid. The plant is part of government?s 10,000 megawatt power development program.

 

Wayang Windu II started commercial operation since December last year.

 

The use of geothermal to power electricity plants in West Java currently reaches 940 MW scattered in four locations including the Awibengkok Bogor, which has a potential of 375 MW; the Kamojang field in Garut 200 MW; the Darajat Garut field 255 MW; and the Wayang Windu I 110 MW. (denny)
