State owned coal-mining producer PT Bukit Asam has been asked by the local authority to help the reconstruction of an open market in Tanjung Enim, which was recently destroyed by fire.
The regent of Muara Enim regency, Sofyan Effendi, said on Thursday that the people expected that the coal mining company, one of a few big companies in the regency, to participate in the reconstruction of the market.
"The company's assistance is quite needed in a bid to stimulate economic activities in the regency," Sofyan said in his speech at the inauguration of a new bridge, one of public facilities built by PT BA.
The coal mining company, which is currently preparing its privatization plan, has built a number of public facilities in the regency. The company spent about Rp 5.6 billion for the construction of the bridge. (*)
