The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is currently rehabilitating 12 roads and bridges in Central Sulawesi, which were damaged by the massive earthquake and tsunami in 2018.
Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono said the government is focusing on rehabilitating and reconstructing various infrastructures in the natural disaster-hit region, including roads and bridges.
"The approach is building back better, not just developing the same (quality) infrastructure," he said in a statement.
He said the rehabilitation and reconstruction works are partly funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through Infrastructure Reconstruction Sector Loan (IRSL).
