State utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has planned to start the commercial operation of the geothermal power plant (PLTP) Suoh Sekincau in West Lampung regency of Lampung province in between the year 2018 and 2019.
The geothermal developer PT Chevron Geothermal Suoh Sekincau is currently conducting a survey of Geological and Geophysical (G&G).
?The developer has yet to negotiate its Energy Sales Contract (ESC) with the government,? Anang Yahmadi, Senior Manager of Geothermal at PLN New and Renewable Energy Division, said in Jakarta over the weekend.
But he said that the government had issued an assignment letter for the developer. And the price agreed by both the government and the developer was at 6,9 US cents per kilowatt hour (kWh).
The development of the geothermal power plant, with a generation capacity of 4 x 55 megawatt (MW), is aimed to fulfill the power need in Lampung province.
