PLN to set monthly electricity bills based on average 3 month

State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said its employees will not visit consumers house or buildings to measure electricity consumption for each month as a safety measure on the back of coronavirus or Covid-19 outbreak.

PLN will instead determines the monthly electricity bill based on the average of the past three months. This will be applied in the electricity bills for April.

"This means that for April electricity bill, it will be determined based on the historical average usage of kWh in December, January and February," PLN's Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) for Business & Customer Service, Yuddy Setyo Wicaksono, said in a statement.

"We do this to prevent PLN staff from visiting customers' homes," he said. Therefore, the government's policy to implement work from home (WFH) policy and physical distancing can be successful.

PLN has also given options for customers to pay electricity bills via ATM, internet banking, SMS Banking, E-Wallet such as Link Aja, Gopay and others or through e-commerce platform such as Tokopedia, Bukalapak, Traveloka and others. Therefore, customers do not have to come to PLN office.
