PLN to rely on coal as main source of energy

The state-owned electricity company PLN will put a priority in the use of coal as the main source of energy for its power generating units in the future, according to company president Eddie Widiono.
He was quoted by the Neraca daily as saying that coal was relatively cheaper compared to other sources of energy and its supply at home was abundant.
He added that PLN had former several joint ventures with coal mining firms mainly to ensure coal supply to the power company.(*)
