PLN provides time for debtors

The state electricity company PLN would not cut its power supply to state institutions, which have been in arrears in the payment of their power bills, according to company president Kuntoro Mangkusubroto.
Kuntoro said that PLN would provide time for the debtors to settle their obligations totaling Rp 157 billion as of December 1999.
He said that the largest arrears in the payment of the electricity bill was made by public facilities particularly government schools, the military and the regional administration.
PLN is currently in the process of filing a legal suit against power looters particularly the large ones like apartment, hotel and other building operators. The company had cut the power supply to these buildings until the settle their obligations. (*)
