On Thursday, April 4, 2024, shareholders comprising PT PLN Nusantara Renewables (PLN NR) and PT Batam Tirta Surya (BTS) signed the establishment deed of PT Nusantara Tembesi Baru Energi (NTBE), the company tasked with developing the Tembesi Batam Floating Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 35 MWac.
PLN NR, a subsidiary of PLN Nusantara Power, holding 51% of the shares, and PT BTS, a subsidiary of PT TBS Energi Utama Tbk (IDX: TOBA), holding 49% of the shares.
Previously, a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between the PLN NP and TBS Consortium and PT PLN Batam was signed on February 13, 2024.

The Tembesi Batam Floating Solar Power Plant is planned to be situated in the Tembesi Reservoir, Sagulung District, Batam City, Riau Islands Province.
Estimated investment for the construction of the floating power plant is US$ 50 million.
This solar power plant is the largest renewable energy project in the Riau Islands (Kepri) and is poised to become the backbone of Batam's electricity system in the future. Additionally, this project is a part of PT PLN (Persero)'s transformation efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 29% by 2030 and achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060.
