PLN increases hydrogen co-firing ratio at Bali gas power plant

State-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero), through its co-generation unit PT PLN Indonesia Power, has successfully increased the hydrogen co-firing ratio at the Pesanggaran gas-fired power plant in Bali, as part of its strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.

The company has raised the hydrogen blend from 3% in 2022 to 7% in the gas engines at the plant, said Ricky Andrian, Vice President of Business Development at PLN.

"This is one of PLN’s strategies to achieve NZE 2060," Ricky said on Friday.

According to PT Indonesia Power’s website, the Bali power generation unit (PGU) operates 12 diesel and gas power plants (PLTDG) in Pesanggaran. The PGU also has gas power plants (PLTG) located in Pesanggaran, Pemaron, and Gilimanuk, with a total installed capacity of 557 megawatts (MW).
