President of the state electricity firm PLN Kuntoro Mangkusubroto said that the company's inefficiency level could be cut down drastically if PLN could get a fair price from the government for its gas need.
Kuntoro said that PLN paid between US$2.5-$3 per MMBTU of gas, compared to only $1.5 paid by state steel maker PT Krakatau Steel and state fertilizer firm PT Pusri.
He said that the inefficiency level at PLN was estimated to reach up to Rp 4.3 trillion. He said that a fair gas price would cut down the inefficiency by up to Rp 1.8 trillion. (*)
