State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has been assigned to distribute 15.08 million kilo liters of subsidized automotive diesel and 560,000 kl of subsidized kerosene in 2020.
Pertamina on Monday signed the assigned quota of the subsidized fuel products for 2020, witnessed among others by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif and Head of the downstream oil and gas authority BPH Migas, M. Fanshurrulah Asa.
Fanshurullah said in a statement that BPH Migas will evaluate the distribution of the subsidized fuel products every three month to help ensure that the subsidized fuel products reached the intended targets.

He said that going forward, the government must limit the consumption of subsidized fuel products so as to avoid fuel subsidy from ballooning.
He said that BPH Migas has recommended a number of measures to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to prevent future fuel subsidy from soaring. He pointed out that large capacity trucks with more than six wheels are barred from consuming subsidized automotive diesel. Similar policy should also be applied to trains transporting goods, and large ships.
