Mineral products have dominated exports of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) following the operation of the United States-based copper Newmont Nusa Tenggara's copper and gold mining site in the province in 1999, Astaga news portal reported on Friday.
According to data provided by the province's trade and industry office, copper and gold took the first position in NTB's exports, followed by pearl in the second place. The mineral products were exported to Japan and the United States, while pearl to Japan, India, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Handcraft products took the third place, with shipment mostly directed to Australia, the United States, the Netherlands, Germany and Singapore.
The local trade and industry office said that exports from the province reached a total of US$262.02 million during the first nine months of this year. About $257.66 million of the total exports were contributed by copper and gold from Newmont, $1.51 million by pearl and the remaining $1,230,906 by handcraft products.
The value of exports during the January-September period already exceeded the total exports of $29.40 million in 1999. (*)
