A number of mineral producers have set up the so-called Indonesian Mineral Producer Association (APMINDO) with the first planned agenda being to file for a judicial review on a newly-issued ministerial regulation on mineral processing and refinery.

The association is slated to be officially launched on March 15 in Jakarta.

?The association is established partly in response to ministerial regulation No 7/2012 which is considered to negatively impact the mineral companies,? the source told Petromindo.com adding that the association considered filing for a judicial review on article no 8 and 21.

The article 8 (4) says IUP special production operation for processing and/or refinery would be issued by Director General on behalf of minister, governor or regent/mayor.

As of March 6, some 60 business people representing mineral companies have joined the association.

?We target to gather 200 members of the association,? the source said.
