Coal mining company PT Naan Bara Abadi (NBA), a subsidiary of PT Darma Putera Wahana Pratama (Dewata), hopes to able to finally start coking coal production at its concession in Murung Raya Regency, Central Kalimantan Province, next year.

Paulus W. Broto, President Director of Dewata, told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that NBA is currently waiting for a new IUP mining business license from the central government after its previous IUP permit was revoked by the Central Kalimantan provincial administration.

The Indonesian Ombudsman, however, has recently annulled the Central Kalimantan government decision.  “The ombudsman has recently ordered the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal (of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources) to issue IUP permit for PT Naan Bara Abadi,” he said, without disclosing as to why and when the Central Kalimantan government revoked the original IUP permit.

“We are now waiting for (a new) IUP permit from the central government. If all goes well, we hope we could start production next year.”

The company previously planned to start production in 2018 with annual output target of 1 million tons of coking coal from its 2,400-ha concession, which reportedly has coal reserves of 30 million tons.
