MEMR, IEA sign cooperation on energy transition

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) have signed a cooperation program for the period of 2020-2021 on energy transition.
The cooperation covers a number of aspects, including energy and statistic data, policy on energy emergency and security, renewable energy, bio-energy, energy efficiency, energy and clean technology as well as review on policies and capacity improvement.
The meeting, held in Paris on Dec. 5-6, 2019, was headed by the Minister for Climate of Poland, Michal Kurtyka, who is also President of COP24, which is also attended by members of the COP24 and IEA as well as leading world companies.
The cooperation was signed by the Head of the Research and Development Agency of the MEMR, Dadan Kusdiana, and Executive Director of IEA, Fatih Birol, on the sideline of the IEA Energy Ministerial Meeting in Paris, 5-6 December 2019.
The ministerial level meeting carries a theme, 'Building the Future of Energy', which discuss various issues such as energy innovation and investment, involvement of consumers, digitalization, strengthening the energy security, sustainable energy inclusiveness and global energy policy.
Both parties have agreed to prioritize the cooperation on energy emergency and security, which covers undertaking effective steps in the emergency supply of oil, gas, oil products, electricity and the development of emergency relief system.
The MEMR and IEA will also discuss opportunities to cooperation on various energy technology and recommend options and steps in accelerating the transition to the clean energy from the perspective of industry, transportation, building and household (city gas network).
