KPC urged to help repair Sangatta roads

Leaders of several political parties in East Kutai regency, East Kalimantan province, called on coal mining firm PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) to help repair the local roads.

The politicians said that KPC which have operated long enough in the area seemed to no longer be concerned of the damaged main roads in Sangatta.

The politicians said that there was an unwritten commitment from KPC's previous public relations officer, Ketut Tempaja, that the company would help finance the repair of the public roads in Sangatta.

Separately, East Kutai regent Awang Faroek Ishak admitted that the administration was seeking assistance from KPC to help in repairing the roads. But he said that the company had not responded to the calls. (*)
