Coal mining company PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) in Sangatta, East Kalimantan said it targeted its coal output at 15 million tons this year, as against the realized output of 13.4 million tons for last year.
Company external relations manager Bambang Susanto told Petromindo.Com over the weekend that the company had initially targeted 15 million tons for 2000 but labor strike which hit the company in the middle of the year had affected its production and made it only able to produce 13.4 million tons that year.
KPC is equally owned by Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto and energy giant Beyond Petroleum.
Meanwhile, Nunik Maulana, a public relations official of gold mining company PT Kelian Equatorial Mining (KEM) announced that it targeted gold output at 12.8 tons this year, compared with last year's output of 10.6 tons.
KEM, based in the Kutai district, East Kalimantan, is also a subsidiary of Rio Tinto. (Godang/Alex)
