KEM donates education aid to 46 schools

Gold mining company PT Kelian Equatorial Mining (KEM) handed over aid package to support the education program for 500 students of 46 primary, junior and senior high schools in four districts of Long Iram, Barong Tongkok, Melak and Damai, West Kutai regency, East Kalimantan, Kaltim Post reported.
The Rp 283.7 million worth of aid package includes scholarship, uniform, school equipment, reading books, sports and transportation equipment.
The aid was handed over by company president John Valle and director of general affairs Erwin Siahaan on Thursday to the head of the districts.
During the ceremony to deliver the aid package, Valle said the company did not only care about its workers but also the people living around its mine.
He said the company has been providing education aid to the local people since 1997. (*)
