Kadin asks Unocal to repeat tender process

The Balikpapan chamber of commerce and industry (Kadin) asked oil and gas firm Unocal Indonesia Company to repeat its tender process to appoint a supplier for its chemical needs.

Balikpapan Kadin head Bustani Achmad said that the tender process must be repeated because there had been a "deviation" from the basic principle of tender. He didn't provide further explanation.

"The president of Unocal must annul its earlier decision to award the contract to PT Fajar Mas Semesta and to repeat the tender process," he was quoted as saying by the local Kaltim Post daily.

PT Superimex Wahana Tama made a complaint to Kadin on Thursday against Unocal for being not transparent with the tender process. Unocal had appointed Fajar Mas to supply its low toxic based oil mud needs. (*)
