PT Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state utility company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), and Bangka Belitung (Babel) provincial government, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly develop renewable energy resources in the province.
The MoU was signed at Babel governor office last Thursday (04/07).
Under the plan, Indonesia Power will assist the Babel provincial government in studying, developing and tapping the renewable energy resources in the province.
"In line with our vision and mission, we will continue the efforts to develop friendlier energy resources," said President Director of Indonesia Power Ahsin Sidqi.
Babel has rare earth resources that can be further developed as source of renewable energy, added Ahsin Sidqi.
He however did not explain how this rare earth would be developed into a source of renewable energy or other potential renewable energy resources that can be developed.
In addition, Indonesia Power and the provincial government will also conduct public education the importance of utilizing renewable energy as a source of energy.
Babel Governor H. Erzaldi Rosman hopes that Indonesia Power will be able to develop the existing energy resources in Bangka and Belitung.
"The energy potentiality in Babel is extraordinary," Erzaldi Rosman said, adding that the resources are better utilized for the welfare of the local people instead of used by external parties.
