Indoferro exports nickel pig iron to Taiwan

Smelting company PT Indoferro will soon launch the company?s maiden export of its nickel pig iron next week since the company entered pig iron production in August this year, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Saturday.

Indoferro, which is controlled by Growth Steel Group, would ship its first export of about 300 tons of nickel pig iron to Taiwan from the company?s factory in Cilegon, Banten on Tuesday, Jonatan Handojo, the head of business development division of Growth Steel Group, the parent company of PT Indoferro, said.

He said that Indoferro would also export its nickel pig iron to Japan within the next few months. ?The demand is actually higher but we could not meet all the requests,? Jonatan said.

Indoferro was established in 2007 but could begin its smelting operation only this year. Indoferro, which produces nickel pig iron using a blast furnace technology with a capacity of 500,000 tons a year, is the first Indonesian nickel pig iron producer.(*)
