Nickel mining firm PT Inco expects nickel production this year to increase by 50 percent to 1.5 million tons as its new US$600 million plant facility will immediately start operation.
Public relations officer Latief Hasyim said that the new facility has a production capacity of 500,000 ton per year.
Latief said that the company had developed its own 90 MW power plant to support its production facility in Soroako area in Southeast Sulawesi, but added that the company had yet to develop another power plant facility to support its expansion into the Bahudopi area.(*)
