The Ministry of Home Affairs and Regional Autonomy denied on Wednesday (Jan. 10) news reports that the ministry had withdrawn a draft presidential decree on the transfer of mining authority from the State Secretariat.

The director general of governmental and mineral resources affairs at the Home Affairs Ministry, Sudharmono, said the draft decree was at his office for deliberation and currently in the finishing stage before being sent to the State Secretariat.

"So, it is not withdrawn, but still being deliberated by the 157 team. Hopefully, we will complete the deliberation of this draft decree, together with other draft government regulations, on Jan. 15," Sudharmono said.

He explained there were 10 draft government regulations and 16 other supporting decrees to support the implementation of regional autonomy under deliberation at his ministry.

"We have completed 18 drafts out of the 26. So, we have 8 drafts left, and hopefully, by Jan. 20, all drafts would be ready," he said.

He explained that those government regulations and decrees still needed further supporting regulations from local administrations. (*)
