The reduction in the electricity tariff comes amid falling prices of oil and coal. The ministry evaluates the electricity tariffs every quarter taking into account a number of factors such as Indonesia crude price, inflation rate, exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar, and coal price (HBA).
Ministry Spokesman Agung Pribadi said in the statement that the lower tariff for the low voltage customer category is expected to help maintain public’s purchasing power and to support economic recovery process amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
