EMP Bentu spuds exploration well in Riau

EMP Bentu Ltd, operator of the Bentu block in Riau Province, spudded on Thursday the N.Napuh-01 exploration well, located at Langgam District in Pelalawan Regency, in a bid to find new oil and gas reserves.

The exploration well was drilled vertically using Rig BMA#11 (750 HP) with a planned final depth of 6,300 ft, ruangenergi.com reported, quoting the upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas.

The exploration well drilling activity will penetrate the Korinci, Binio, Telisa, Tualang, Lakat, Kelesa and Basement Formations. This exploration drilling is intended to test and evaluate the potential for oil and gas content in the Lakat and Tualang Formations, SKK Migas said.

Currently the status of the N.Napuh-01 well drilling operation is drilling a 17-1/2” hole to a depth of 1200 ftMD (total casing depth of 13-3/8”). The N.Napuh-01 well drilling program is expected to be completed in two months.
