East Kalimantan youth to question KPC

Several youth organizations in East Kutai, East Kalimantan province, plans to take a visit to coal mining firm PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) to question why the company had not participated to fix the damage public roads in the town of Sangatta.

"If in one week time KPC doesn't make its move, we'll visit the company to ask whether they're no longer willing to participate in repairing the road," a youth leader told Kaltim Post.

Local politicians had earlier asked KPC to participate in the repairing of the damage road on grounds that the giant company also used the road to transport its staffs.

A local villager asked people to blockade the road so that the company's staffs could not pass through which in turn would also disrupt KPC's coal production. (*)
