E. Kalimantan top leaders leave for China to observe power plant systems

East Kalimantan governor Suwarna and other top provincial leaders on Thursday left Indonesia for China to observe that country?s power plant systems, East Kalimantan-based Kaltim Post daily reported.

Those accompanying Suwarna included East Kalimantan?s regents and provincial and regency council members, Kaltim Post said. Jawa Pos Group chairman Dahlan Iskan was among the delegation.

East Kalimantan had planned to build a 60-megawatt coal power plant in East Kutai Regency to supply electricity to other parts of Kalimantan.

Indo Power, state electricity company PLN, coal miner PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), and Wiratman Associated will join the province to build the power facility, East Kutai regent Awang Faroek said.

Indo Power is a unit of PLN, while KPC operates a huge coalmine in Sangatta in East Kutai. (*)
