Cirebon Regent Imron confirmed that the construction of the region's first wind power plant (PLTB) will begin in 2026, with the site located in Sedong District, Cirebon Regency, West Java.
The project, which will harness wind energy, is set to proceed following a meeting with the developer on Thursday, April 24. Imron emphasized the significance of the project in advancing Indonesia's clean energy transition, particularly in West Java.
“This is not just about energy. It’s about creating a legacy for future generations,” Imron said, as reported by Antara on Monday. “The Sedong PLTB will mark a significant step forward in sustainable development for Cirebon.”
The wind farm, designed to have a capacity of 150 megawatts (MW), will feature 20 turbine towers across Sedong. The energy produced will be integrated into the PLN network, supporting the national power grid, particularly in Java.
Imron added that local authorities are committed to supporting the project, ensuring necessary permits are processed and facilitating cross-sector coordination.

“We are ready to assist with all administrative and technical requirements to ensure the smooth construction of the PLTB,” he said.
The project is expected to position Cirebon as a leader in the development of wind-based renewable energy in West Java.
PT Cirebon Tenaga Bayu Director Gery Julian explained that Cirebon was selected after two years of wind potential research. Measurements showed that Sedong’s stable wind conditions make it an ideal location for wind power generation.
The physical construction of the PLTB is expected to begin in 2026, with commercial operations planned for 2027.
“Cirebon was not an arbitrary choice,” Gery said. “It is the result of thorough research and careful planning.”
