China’s Hebang eyes petrochemical project in E. Java

China’s Hebang Group and Chengda Engineering Corp are planning to collaborate in developing a petrochemical plant at the JIIPE Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Gresik, East Java Province.

"Two weeks ago, Chengda, Hebang, and a representative from the Ministry of Investment visited JIIPE. In the future, we will build a petrochemical plant that will be owned by Hebang. Chengda will act as the contractor," Ihda Ibtihaj, Commercial Manager of Chengda, said on Monday.

He added that the project's execution is expected to start before 2025. However, he did not provide further details.

Last week, Hebang also visited Bontang, East Kalimantan, regarding the company’s chemical plant investment plan in the province.

"They are looking for locations that are easy to access for raw materials, have complete infrastructure, and have competitive prices. There is no information regarding how much investment will be channeled," Head of Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office (DMPTSP) of East Kalimantan Province said recently.
