Chevron Geothermal & Power is planning to expand the capacity of its Gunung Salak geothermal power plant by between 40 to 50 megawatt as part of its program to increase geothermal energy supply in the country.
?For Salak (geothermal power plant), we are looking at possible expansion of between 40 to 50 megawatt,? Isikeli Taureka, President of Chevron Geothermal & Power Indonesia, told OGE Asia magazine in an interview recently.
Taureka said the feasibility study is being undertaken.
The Gunung Salak geothermal power plant currently has a capacity of 375 megawatt.
Taureka added the company initially planned to also expand the capacity of Darajat geothermal power plant (Darajat IV). However, based on feasibility study the power plant has already operated at maximum capacity. ?Unfortunately, it is not feasible. Therefore, we called off that particular (expansion) project,? he said. (roffie)
