Chalco to invest in Indonesia alumina project

Chalco Hong Kong Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd (Chalco) will set up a joint venture to build a bauxite mine and alumina refinery in Indonesia, according to a report on the Chalco website.
The report did not give any details on Chalco Hong Kong's share in the project and the total investment.
Chalco's spokeswoman Liu Qiang did not immediately return calls seeking a comment, chinadaily.com.cn said.
Chalco has an alumina capacity of 14 million tons a year, making it the country's top producer of the material used for the production of primary aluminium. Bauxite is the ore from which alumina is produced. (*)
