BTR New Material Group Co., Ltd., a global leader in advanced battery materials, has confirmed that its Phase II anode material production facility in Indonesia will begin operations in late 2025. This phase will add 80,000 tons per year to the company’s production capacity, a key move in BTR’s strategy to double its anode material production capacity to 160,000 tons per year, up from the current 80,000 tons, which was inaugurated in August 2024.
"Currently, the company has an anode material production capacity of 575,000 tons per year. In addition, the company has initiated an expansion project in Indonesia for 80,000 tons per year of anode material capacity (Phase II) and an investment project in Morocco for 60,000 tons per year of anode material production. The Indonesia Phase II project is expected to commence production in late 2025," stated Huang Youyuan, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of BTR New Material, in a March 2025 statement.

PT Indonesia BTR New Energy Material operates production facilities at the PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Central Sulawesi Province and the Kendal Industrial Park in Central Java Province. The first phase of the project, which involved a $478 million investment, resulted in an annual production capacity of 80,000 tons of anode materials. The second phase will involve an additional $299 million investment, expanding the total capacity to 160,000 tons per year.
PT Indonesia BTR New Energy Material, established in January 2023, has a registered capital of US$ 167.3 million, with US$ 148.56 million already paid. BTR holds a 60% ownership stake, while the remaining 40% is held by Stellar Investment Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of China’s Tsingshan Holding Group, a nickel and stainless steel giant.
