The Export Promoter of the British Trade International, David Burton, said in Palembang on Friday that British businessmen had expressed their interests to build power plants in South Sumatra.
"British business people are interested in building power plant in South Sumatra," Burton said at a meeting with Governor H. Rosihan Arsyad. "Is there any possibility for British business people to enter South Sumatra to build power plant?"
The South Sumatra governor welcomed the offer, and said that his province would open its door wide open for investors wanting to invest in the province.
"Please, come in because South Sumatra still needs more supplies of electricity, both for household and industrial consumers," Rosihan said.
He suggested that the British businessmen coordinate with state electricity firm PT PLN in realizing their plans to build power plants in South Sumatera, as it is PLN which buys all electricity produced by private power producers.
"If it is considered profitable, PLN that buys all electricity supplies will not reject an offer for cooperation from British businessmen," Rosihan said. (*)
