Downstream oil and gas authority BPH Migas said encourages business players to set up fuel distributors in the village level as a move to help villagers in getting fuel easily.

"We are hoping that the government through BPH Migas can set up fuel stations in each village. It can be mini, medium, or large (fuel stations)," the Head of BPH Migas Fanshurullah Asa said during a virtual discussion on the Impact of Covid-19 on the Fuel Sector, Friday (12/6).

He said BPH Migas wants to assure that fuel is available in 75 thousand villages throughout Indonesia, which will be a challenge for the next 5 or 10 years into the future.

The current fuel distribution network, said Ifan, is currently considered less than ideal to optimize the distribution of fuel to remote areas of Indonesia. The distribution agency consists of the general Fuel Filling Stations (SPBUs), Fisherman Fuel Filling Stations (SPBNs), Bunker Filling Stations (SPBB), and Oil and Solar Premium Agents (APMS).
