Big companies explore for nickel and gold in Sulawesi

Several big mining companies are exploring nickel and ore in South Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi, Bisnis Indonesia daily reported.
Olleks Jassin, head of the South and Southeast Sulawesi mines and energy offices, said state mining company PT Aneka Tambang was exploring for nickel in Kendari area, Southeast Sulawesi, while PT Masmindo Dwi Area was doing gold exploration in the province's Luwu regency.
Canadian firm North United & Co would start gold explorations in North Polmas, Tator and Luwu areas, in South Sulawesi.
Meanwhile Antara news agency quoted vice head of the Southeast Sulawesi provincial investment office Edison Dayoh as saying that a group of investors from the Philippines will visit the province to explore investment opportunities in mining sector. (*)
