Berau Coal says it's committed to rehabilitate ex-mining site

Coal mining firm PT Berau Coal, who's been known for using explosive in its mining operation, said that it's committed to rehabilitate its ex-mining site.

"We don't only mine, but also has a program to rehabilitate our ex-mining site including through land reclamation and reforestation," said Berau Coal senior official Rudy P.

He was responding to increasing concern in East Kalimantan of environmental destruction due to the lack of effort by mining firms in rehabilitating their ex-mining sites.

Rudy also said that its ex-mining sites has the prospects to be develop into a recreational center.(*)
