ATPK quits nickel business

PT MIM Nickelindo Mulia, a subsidiary of Jakarta-listed mining firm PT ATPK Resources, has stopped exploration activities at its nickel mine in East Luwuk, Banggai district, Central Sulawesi

MIM Nickelindo had no activity of nickel mining operations and business development in 2010, as the firm had changed business priorities. Since no investor was interested to cooperate in developing the mine, the firm decided not to extend its nickel mining permit that ended in March 2010, ATPK said in its 2010 annual report.

MIM Nikelindo has a 4,066 ha nickel exploration area.

The company has also divisted its other nickel unit, PT Wahana Bumi Mulia. (denny)
