A consortium of APGWI and PT SPR Langgak West Kampar was awarded the West Kampar block by the government in November 2022. The firm investment commitment for the West Kampar block was estimated at US$32.55 million to finance exploitation activities, five workover wells, four development wells, three GGRE studies, acquisition and processing of 250 km 2D seismic and 3D seismic of 50 sq km, and two G&G studies, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said in January of this year.
According to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the block has estimated resources of around 130 MMBO. The number does not include the potential reserves in the Pendalian field (existing field) with remaining reserves of around 9.6 MMBO.
Previously, the West Kampar block was operated by PT Sumatera Persada Energi (SPE). However, SPE was declared bankrupt and its contract was revoked by the government on August 15, 2018.
